The weapons system in Breath of the Wild was both loved and hated by many, and the question of whether or not it will return in the sequel has yet to be answered. In the trailer released over a year ago, Link is shown wielding the Master Sword, making fans also wonder if we will start the game out with the blade. MaskedNintendoBandit attempts to answer both questions in a new video on YouTube.
In this video, he discusses the possibilities for both the Master Sword and how the weapon system will work in the upcoming sequel. He believes that to prevent players from starting out with the most powerful weapon in the game, something will happen to the legendary blade. While he believes it’s possible the Master Sword might get broken and need repairing or powering up, he feels that this mechanic has been slightly overdone, as this has happened throughout many Zelda games before. Instead, he suggests that the Master Sword will get stolen, and instead of saving Zelda, players will be saving the Master Sword.
Concerning the weapons system, MastedNintendoBandit theorizes that Link’s glowing hand may be how a new one is implemented. Concept art for Breath of the Wild shows that Nintendo played with the idea of Link’s hand morphing into different weapons and past items from previous Zelda games. The new magical hand of Link’s could be evidence of them returning to this early idea.
