Today, Nintendo unveiled details about the latest DLC characters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This DLC pack includes the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 characters Pyra and Mythra as a fighting pair. The duo will be available to purchase and download later today.
Both characters are similar in design and general abilities, but they do have some unique characteristics and special moves. Pyra is a character that focuses on attack power and range, and Mythra is a character that focuses on speed and mobility.
Much like with Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard, players can alternate between Pyra and Mythra by using their down-special move. This allows for dynamic and strategic use of the characters. Though, switching between the characters is not required if the player would rather use only one.
As is the case for all Fighters Pass Vol. 2 DLC packs, Challenger Pack 9 comes with a new stage and new soundtracks. The stage, the Cloud Sea of Alrest, has players fighting on the back of Azurda. For the music, 16 new tracks have been added. This includes both new arrangements and songs originally from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. These tracks can also be played when fighting on the Gaur Plain stage.
A new Spirit Board has also been added. This board features characters from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It has a mix of characters already present in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and some new ones, such as Jin, Malos, and Amalthus.
Lastly, new Mii Fighter outfits were also announced during today’s presentation. Three of the four outfits are based on the Monster Hunter game series, and one of the outfits is based on Arthur from the Ghosts ‘n Goblins franchise. These outfits are being released alongside Pyra and Mythra.
