Cadence of Hyrule may have everyone grooving, but it can’t top the sheer weirdness of this animated Zelda short.
Zelda: A Lunk Between Dance is bizarre in all the best ways. It opens with Link locked in a T-pose entering the room full of pots in Castle Town. What follows is hard to explain and even harder to look away from, but reminds me of the wonderful strangeness of the internet’s early days. Between Link’s extending neck to Ganondorf hiding in a pot, this video left me constantly asking what I was even watching.
Hearing that, you might expect a video of low quality, but the opposite is true. Clearly a lot of skill and effort went into this, which only makes the end result that much stranger. The art style is crisp and colorful, and the dance animations are smooth.
The creator of this madness goes by MortMort on YouTube, and this isn’t their only Zelda creation. There’s also a mesmerizing clip of the same Link dancing alongside two guards, as well as videos about art and game development.
