Dragon Quest’s Hero and Banjo-Kazooie joining Ultimate this year

Not one, but two fighters were announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in today’s Nintendo Direct! The E3 Direct opened with Breath of the Wild Link fighting a corrupted Marth and Meta Knight before the aptly named Hero from Dragon Quest XI leaped in to help out.

It went on to show off some of the moves and animations for the Hero, but Nintendo wasn’t done showing off the new character yet. Instead of alternate colors for the different skins, at least three other Heroes from previous Dragon Quest games are playable (a la Bowser Jr. and the Koopa Kids). Look forward to the Hero being playable in Summer 2019.

Aside from the Hero, there was one more new addition to Ultimate. It was, in fact, not the Duck Hunt dog and bird trolling. It was the much-hoped-for Banjo-Kazooie raring to go! With a mighty “hyuk,” they bounced into the competition, punching, dashing, and egg shooting other fighters. They are expected to be released in Fall 2019.

These were just a couple things announced during a fantastic Nintendo Direct for E3 2019, and if you need to watch it another time or several (*cough* Breath of the Wild sequel trailer *cough*), please enjoy!
