Philips has responded to fans of their CD-i system, who wish to see a classic version much like Nintendo and Sony’s retro collection consoles. To my surprise, it wasn’t a flat-out no.
Thank you very much for reminding us of the Philips CD-i! We appreciate the thought of a smaller, classic version of one of our legacy devices. 🙂

Hi Cdi3DO, Thank you for your love, encouragement and interest! We will try our best to fulfil your dreams and release something you suggest, but cannot promise anything yet. Please be a bit patient and stay tuned. Thank you in advance. AT

As you can see, Philips suggests that they may actually be exploring the idea, which seems like complete insanity. That said, if Hotel Mario and the classic CD-i Zelda titles somehow manage to make it on the system, then it would still be a day one purchase for me, though the chances of Nintendo letting that happen would have to be around zero.
