Remixed by Garrett Williamson and Sir Jordanius of the Over Clocked Remix Video Game Music Community, “The Goddess Gets Groovy Tonight” blends the groovy elements of R&B into the mystic theme of the Fairy Fountain — Specifically, the A Link to the Past version of the theme. This theme is easily one of my favorite remixes of Zelda songs, which isn’t surprising since OC Remix regularly puts out excellent music.
The remixes that I enjoy the most tend to keep the sound and rhythm of the original. They also add something new and different that gives the original new life. “The Goddess Gets Groovy Tonight” does both well enough for me to give it multiple listens at one time. To me, that says a lot about a tune as simplistic as the A Link to the Past version of the Fairy Fountain Theme.
Anyone who has never heard of OC Remix should give “The Goddess Gets Groovy Tonight” a listen and then run through their YouTube page. Some of my favorite music from them includes their remixes of the music from the Donkey Kong Country games as well as the numerous rearrangements they’ve done of music from the various Zelda and Mario games.
