New Nintendo 3DS XL aims to strike at the SNES Classic irons while they’re hot

The 3DS family of systems continues to broaden, this time with another new skin. The Super Nintendo-themed New 3DS XL is now available for pre-order exclusively on Amazon.

At this time, it would seem this is the US catching up with their version of the Super Famicom New 3DS XL’s released in other regions previously. This one features the beloved boxy shapes with purple buttons as opposed to the multi-colored buttons of its overseas counterparts.

Adopters of this new model will also be treated to a digital code for a copy of the Super Mario Kart. It can’t help but be wondered why a game better enjoyed with two people is included in a way that can’t be played two-player. Any number of other games, like Super Mario World or A Link to the Past would have been preferable, but hey, free is free. Also keep in mind that, like all 3DS XL models, a power cable is not included. We don’t know why, either.

As of this writing, the pre-orders are still available on Amazon’s website. If previous Nintendo Hardware issues are to be used as reference, you may want to move fast if you’re interested. The system is set to ship on November 27 of this year, and retails for the standard $199.99.
