Every year, the Tokyo Game Show brings with it the Japan Game Awards. For the competition, games that released from April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017 were qualified to compete within the various categories available. With eight different categories of awards possible, Nintendo did well and managed to claim numerous accolades.

Pokémon Sun and Moon alone snagged three awards, winning “Best Sales Award,” “Global Award Japanese Product,” and an “Award for Excellence.” Pokémon GO walked away with the “Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award.” However, the star of the show, Breath of the Wild, was granted the prestigious “Grand Prize” award and an “Award for Excellence” along with Monster Hunter XX.
