Music Monday: Light World Dungeon

Recently, I have been learning to become a Dungeon Master for Dungeons & Dragons, and one of the things that help me most when I’m trying to think of ideas is music — more specifically, Zelda music. I’ve been listening to a lot of the dungeon themes from The Legend of Zelda to get my mindset in the right place when creating my own lairs, but there’s one in particular that always gets me inspired.

The Light Dungeon theme from A Link to the Past has always been one of my favorites since I first heard it. It’s steady beat and mysterious tone always kept me on my toes and always planning ahead. For me, it stimulates me to use my brain and to solve puzzles, which is what I would assume is what it was intended to do. In fact, I’m listening to it while writing this article to keep the ball going!

The ZREO rendition is a beautifully orchestrated version of this song. The beginning part is so wonderfully eerie and the instruments picked for this tune are just perfect. I love the haunting choir that’s added into this piece! Overall, it makes me visualize walking into a dungeon, unaware of the dangers to come but prepared to overcome.
