Eiji Aonuma, producer of The Legend of Zelda series, took to Miiverse today to confirm that the footage shown in the Zelda Wii U trailer was in fact gameplay footage. He stated that many members of the media had been asking him if it was pre-rendered footage or not, and Aonuma confirmed today that no, it is in fact gameplay footage.
“…but that really is actual gameplay on Wii U.”
“Many people from the media kept asking me if the footage from the new Zelda game for Wii U is just a promotional movie, but that really is actual gameplay on Wii U.”
This confirms what Kotaku previously learned from a Nintendo PR rep shortly after the trailer’s unveil.
Aonuma also said that he was not joking when he mentioned that you will be able to reach the mountains found deep in the trailer’s background if you so choose to. The world in Zelda for Wii U seems to be massive, and we’ve only seen a small glimpse of it in a tiny trailer. Hopefully we see more of the vastness of this new Zelda world soon!
