Toon Link introduces the new Home-Run Bat (to DK’s face) in the latest Smash Wii U screenshots

Super Smash Bros. Wii U - Home Run Bat 1

There is an unquestionable element of tension when a player picks up the Home-Run Bat in a Super Smash Bros. game. It takes a moment to swing, but the pay-off is that it is essentially a one-hit KO weapon. Few things feel as satisfying as smashing your opponent with that sweet tool of death, sending them miles away into the abyss that lies beyond the stage’s borders.

After Link’s sharp batting skills in A Link Between WorldsOctoball Derby, it seems the sport comes naturally to Hylians as Toon Link brought the new bat to the fight in the latest “pic of the day” screenshots by series director Masahiro Sakurai.

He says on Miiverse:

“The Home-run Bat in this game is black! And it’s so powerful that your eyes might bug out!!”

He then thoughtfully demonstrates what happens when said bat makes contact:

That’s right; the weapon has been given a make-over for the latest fighting instalment. See for yourself below, as @SmashMiiverse kindly tweeted this comparison image of all the Home-Run Bats across the Smash series.
