Now that we’re a month into 2014, it’s time to honor the greatest games of 2013! Official Nintendo Magazine UK honored A Link Between Worlds with two awards in their “ONM Awards 2013“. The competition was tough, as 2013 was loaded with incredible games on both the Wii U and 3DS.

For ONM’s 3DS game of the year, A Link Between Worlds was up against some major games, including Animal Crossing, Pokemon X/Y and Professor Layton, all of which could easily be crowned “Game of the Year.”  However, to the folks at ONM, it was clear that ALBW stood out from all the rest. Here’s what they had to say:

“The Legend Of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is a rollercoaster ride of glee, nostalgia, brain re-training and glorious eureka-moments held together with the kind of special magic that only Nintendo can summon.”

As if earning the title of 3DS Game of the Year wasn’t enough, ALBW brought home another award, this time for best audio. With such a strong soundtrack, this was a well-earned victory.

“Tunes evolve as you progress, time signatures change to reflect playful versus epic and arrangements switch from folksy duos to hair-raising orchestral wonders. The soundtrack of the year, without a doubt.”

Other ONM awards include Super Mario 3D World for best Wii U game, Luigi’s Mansion 2 for best graphics, and SteamWorld Dig for best eShop game.
