Club Nintendo recently started shipping the 2013 gold and platinum rewards to its members, which contain some really cool and unique Nintendo items. Well, Club Nintendo has sent something else to a select group of Wii U owners. It’s not a game, it’s not some cool Nintendo memorabilia–it’s a $40 Pizza Hut gift card! That’s quite strange, and why Nintendo decided to send a Pizza Hut gift card in particular is anybody’s guess. The gift card isn’t the only thing that members received, however.

The gift card comes with a card that contains numerous Nintendo-related decorations, and more importantly, a message written by Reggie himself. The message reads:

Dear Club Nintendo Member,

Thank you for your loyalty this past year. As a small token of our appreciation, we are sending a special thank you to a select group of some of our biggest Wii U fans. Make your next Wii U game night even better with a pizza party–on us. Enjoy the enclosed $40 gift card, and have fun!

Our best wishes in the holiday season!

This is a bit of a strange move by Nintendo. What was the criteria to receive this card? My guess is that registering a certain number of Wii U games on Club Nintendo would qualify someone to receive this gift card, but it’s really anyone’s guess. Have you received this gift card from Club Nintendo? What do you think? Feel free to let us know in the comments!
