Nintendo has released the official trailer for A Link to the Past for its European release on the Wii U Virtual Console. The trailer shows off the gameplay well, and serves as a great sample of things to come for players who haven’t had the chance to experience this classic Zelda game yet. There is some bad news though: NiNTENDOMiNATiON confirmed on his Twitter that the game runs at 50Hz, which means that the game will be noticeably slower than versions of the game released in North America and Japan. This is due to the fact that older TVs in Europe ran on a 50Hz standard, while TVs in North America and Japan run at 60Hz . This results in the European version of the game running approximately 16.67% slower. It’s unfortunate that Nintendo didn’t fix this, since HDTVs eliminate this sort of problem. Regardless, at least European fans get the chance to play the game on the Wii U, even if it does run noticeably slower than its counterparts. You can check out the full trailer after the jump.
