AGDQ 2026 plays remarkable Zelda speed runs, raises over $2 million to help prevent cancer

A new year means fresh new speedruns for a good cause that helps to stop cancer before it starts, one life at a time.

On the week of January 4th, Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) came together once again in Pittsburgh, PA to perform awesome speedrunning tricks with many different games for a week straight, ranging from familiar blockbuster titles to the obscure and downright wacky.

As far as the Zelda scene goes, the Game Grumps made a special guest appearance with Glubbers on January 8th for a fabulous run of Twilight Princess HD All Dungeons. Renowned speedrunner gymnast86 was originally scheduled for this event, but he apparently could not come due to feeling unwell according to a Reddit thread.

Next, an amazing Ocarina of Time vs. Majora’s Mask Any% game choice run was performed blindfolded (yes, you read that right) by Bubzia on January 9th, in which Majora’s Mask was chosen to be played. Last but not least, an Any% (ACE) run of the original Gamecube version of The Wind Waker Any% was performed by EJ125 on January 10th. Plenty of fun was had with the crowd, and a whopping two million USD was raised for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This charity is the only United States based nonprofit organization dedicated entirely to cancer prevention and early detection. You can read more about what they do here.

Being blindfolded did not stop Bubzia in the slightest from giving Majora his day of reckoning.

AGDQ is a video game speedrunning event hosted by the charity fundraising organization Games Done Quick (GDQ), which has now been around for over a decade. “Volunteers play games at incredible speed (“Speedrunning”) for entertainment,” states GDQ on their website. “Our events are streamed live online, non-stop, and all donations go directly to the charity. Games Done Quick events feature runners playing games from every generation of gaming history! They play their games live, and explain in detail the many tricks and glitches they use to get the fastest times.”
