AGDQ speedrunners will play several Zelda games next week to help prevent cancer

Many speedrunners will gather in Pittsburgh, PA next week to give their precious time and talent to help defeat one more final boss — the sting of cancer. Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) is teaming up once again to bring on the excitement and help raise charitable funds for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, and several speedrunners will tackle several meaty Zelda games, including a possible bonus run of the newest game Echoes of Wisdom.

First up, the renowned speedrunner Linkus7 will return with an Any% run of the original version of The Wind Waker on Sunday. Known for breaking several world records with the game in the past, he recently jumped back into the category after a hiatus in 2020. Next, there is a possible showing of Breath of the Wild to be speedrun in a two-players-one-controller scenario on Monday, if enough donations meet or exceed the milestone. After that, an ambitious All Dungeons run of Tears of the Kingdom will be attempted by speedrunner cloud on Tuesday. Then, four speedrunners will play the Legendary Trial mode in Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition on Friday simultaneously, and on Saturday, a ridiculously fun Ocarina of Time Randomizer run is sure to test the limits for speedrunner ZFG. If the donations criteria are met at that point, an Any% run of Echoes of Wisdom will also be played by Glubbers as a bonus, so viewers who desire not to get spoiled by the game will want to keep that in mind. Anyone else who is otherwise curious or who wants to experience this beautiful game in an entirely new way is welcome to watch and cheer on!

The AGDQ 2025 charity event will stream worldwide around the clock from Pittsburgh on their Twitch Channel January 5th through the 12th. More information about the event, the Schedule Guide, and hotel travel information is available on the Games Done Quick website.

The Prevent Cancer Foundation was founded in 1985 and is the only U.S.-based nonprofit organization that is solely dedicated to cancer prevention and early detection. You can find out more about what they do here.
