Take a trip through Zelda’s history in GameSpot’s latest mini doc

It all started with a little guy in a green and brown tunic with a sword and a shield with a cross on it. His task was simple, find the eight pieces of the Triforce and save the Princess named Zelda from the clutches of Ganon, the King of Evil. Since then, The Legend of Zelda‘s history has grown vastly from the numerous games that have released over the years. If you have been around since the beginning, then you will probably remember how Link went from being a random traveler with a noble heart that went off to save Hyrule at the request of an old royal attendant named Impa in the The Legend of Zelda to finding out he possessed the crest of the Triforce on his left hand in The Adventure of Link.

Since then, each new game has helped to evolve the series into something much more. Link has traveled through time, between worlds, above and below Hyrule and even unto lands outside of its borders. Each new adventure brings about a whole slew of new enemies, weapons, mechanics, characters, stories, and lore all the while maintaining that classic Zelda formula that has become a staple since A Link to the Past. The games were also influenced by the platforms they were designed for. Anything from the Z-targeting era of the Nintendo 64 to the motion controlled era of the Wii, Zelda has been through it all, and each game has implemented the technology of the time usually to the best of its ability.

No matter where you may have come in as a Zelda fan, this is a beloved series for all to enjoy. Each game has its own flair but is no less exciting or entertaining than the last. Everyone should take the chance to play all of the different titles the series has to offer to experience the history for themselves, but in the meantime they can enjoy Gamespot’s retelling of Zelda’s amazing history.
