News was light for Zelda fans at the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase today, but one title from Square Enix in particular stood out. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is an HD-2D action RPG made from the team behind the critically acclaimed Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default games. This charming adventure stars the traveling hero Elliot and his companion fairy Faie as they venture through perilous dungeons and four ages of time in their quest to save the kingdom of humans. The vibe closely resembles the classic SNES era of games like the 2D RPG Final Fantasy IV as well as the Legend of Zelda game A Link to the Past. You can learn more about the game on Square Enix’s website here.
Not shown at the Partner Direct is an exclusive Adventures of Elliot Collector’s Edition that is up for preorder at the Square Enix Store for $229.99 USD now while supplies last. The bundle includes a copy of the game for the console platform of your choice, a code for the Digital Deluxe Upgrade, CD discs of the game’s original soundtrack, and a diorama style clock depicting Faie and the Door of Time. You can also just preorder the Collector’s Box for $160 USD. If you preorder the game digitally there, you can get bonus in-game items that include a “departure brooch accessory” and an Attack Up Sword Magicite.
Stunning visuals and whimsical art direction pay proper homage to the historical legacy of the 2D strategy RPG genre. If you’re looking for something to do to pass the time this summer while waiting for the next big Zelda drop, Elliot is a great option. A playable free demo is available for The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales now for the Switch 2 on the Nintendo eShop. According to video game analyst Stealth, the game size is 16.6 GB on the Switch 2. The game is scheduled to release June 18, 2026 and it is available for preorder now on Xbox XS, Playstation 5, Steam, and PC Windows. You can watch the game trailer here:
