Mario Kart World’s game box offers a glimpse at how Nintendo Switch 2 cases will look

Nintendo has updated how its game cases will look for the upcoming Switch 2, as seen by photographs shared online.

X user @Genki_JPN shared pictures of the Japanese box for Switch 2 launch title Mario Kart World, placing it side by side with Switch 1’s Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for a visual comparison.

The size of the case is the same as original Switch games, meaning Switch 2 titles should align nicely with older games on the shelf. The artwork, however, now wraps around the spine.

Opening the case will reveal a shimmering shade of red instead of the transparent plastic from the previous generation’s cartridge containers.

Nintendo Switch 2 and Mario Kart World will launch worldwide on June 5, 2025.
