Tingle’s Maps: Hyrule Ranch (Echoes of Wisdom)

Spoiler Warning:
The rest of this article may contain spoilers for Echoes of Wisdom about the story, gameplay mechanics, and other details that you might not wish to see. Continue reading at your own risk.

A hero’s adventure is not complete without a noble steed to aid the journey. And Princess Zelda, who adorns the hero’s mantle in Echoes of Wisdom is no exception. The call to adventure beckons our heroine to many locations across the troubled land, aiding those in need. One location, however, will provide Princess Zelda with a helping hand or hoof, rather at Hyrule Ranch.

Venture west of the bustling Hyrule castle town and you’re bound to find the bucolic homestead, Hyrule Ranch. The ranch is inhabited by a cute farming family who tend to their animals—horses, cattle, cuccos, dogs, and cats—with plenty of Fresh Milk ready for purchase. Upon entering the ranch, Zelda finds the family in a crisis: one of their precious horses has gone missing, and they are to remain closed for business until the horse is found. As a Princess and a Hero, Zelda never refuses the call for help. After accepting the Runaway Horse Side Quest, she makes her next mission to return this lost horse safe and sound.

Once the lost horse is found, the ranch is ready to open for business. Now Zelda can not only purchase Fresh Milk, but she also may borrow a horse and traverse the land of Hyrule at blazing speeds. The opening of the ranch also brings the introduction of a new minigame. The Flag Race utilizes the track that surrounds the ranch. Zelda must race around the track, collecting flags and dodging obstacles, aiming for the shortest time. A successful race will yield various prizes including Radiant Butter or Fresh Milk for your smoothies, as well as some other fantastic prizes that I won’t spoil here.

The measure of a hero lies not in the number of foes they vanquish, but in the amount of positive change they bring to the world. But the hero needs help too, and a faithful steed is the perfect partner when tearing evil asunder. Should you need this reliable partner, be sure to visit Hyrule Ranch.
