Link’s sword design differs in Echoes of Wisdom artwork and trailer

A small difference has been spotted in the design of Link’s sword when comparing The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom‘s official artwork and the game’s recent reveal trailer.

Reddit user CloqueWise noticed the peculiar inconsistency, comparing images of Link’s appearances to show that the crossguard of his sword has a different style.

Usually, something like this could simply point to Link wielding different types of swords in the game — but the fact that Princess Zelda is the main protagonist this time around (with Link trapped in Ganon’s void) throws this possibility into question. On the other hand, this could be our first hint at Link having a playable role in the game.

It is also possible that the difference is down to a minor oversight by the game’s designers — one that may be fixed for the box art or Link’s in-game appearance when Echoes of Wisdom releases.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch on September 28, 2024, alongside a Hyrule Edition Nintendo Switch Lite.
