SPOILERS: this fan Game Boy demake Tears of the Kingdom trailer is as epic as the original

Even though it’s been over one year since Tears of the Kingdom launched, thousands of fans are still deep diving into every nook and cranny of Hyrule’s newest map. Everything still feels so fresh and raw that the game trailers continue to command the same hype and grandeur whether you’ve already beaten the game or are just now getting on the Breezer bandwagon. More amazing still, a talented Japanese Zelda fan was somehow able to bottle all this hype and inject it into a fan-made Game Boy demake trailer. Yes, you read it right. A Game Boy trailer.

It’s a super cool nod to the Nintendo 64 demake trailer that The Regressor made of the very first Tears of the Kingdom teaser back in 2019. Tears of the Kingdom is stunning even in monochromatic pixelated Game Boy graphics. The music is phenomenal to boot, a blend of various songs from the game that are mixed by the Japanese content creator, who curiously only goes by the name of It. You won’t miss the lack of the choir or orchestra by any means because the ensemble of Game Boy chip tunes contains powerful nostalgia and is masterful in its own right. Each note does not fail to miss a beat in Tears of the Kingdom’s complicated arrangements, and that says a lot. Perhaps what contributes to dishing out this hype is also the thoughtful reveal of certain themes and characters that happen to be massive spoilers for several points in the game up to the very end. The cover page for the YouTube video at the bottom of this article is also quite spoilery.

All right, we good now? Good. Enjoy these gorgeous not-spoilery screenshots of the demake trailer before you dive in the whole thing:

YouTube creator It seems to be a newcomer on the Nintendo fan arrangement music scene who has a particular knack for Game Boy musical arrangements. In their YouTube Channel, they also produced a recreation of five Tears of the Kingdom boss battle themes. Colgera’s theme gets the special chip tune glow up of course. They also produced a Game Boy audio recording of the Dark Beast Ganon theme from Breath of the Wild partnered back-to-back with the final battle theme in Tears of the Kingdom, and it’s amazing. You can listen to all of It’s Game Boy compilations in their YouTube Channel here.
