Link has never been a stranger to bling. Even in the original Legend of Zelda, Link could keep slaying all day by donning the Blue Ring or Red Ring to reduce his damage. In A Link to the Past, the whole first part of the hero’s quest involved getting pendants in a variety of colors lest they clash with his tunic. Oh, and to prove his worth as a hero. Breath of the Wild introduced a whole jewelry store of earrings and circlets for the hero to show off as he wrecked Moblins, Taluses, and the Blights in style. It’s no surprise then that TorresDesigns is able to mix fashionable jewelry with Zelda iconography in their beautiful Majora Steampunk Locket Necklace.

When first viewing the necklace, the multitude of charms is what stands out. This particular locket holds six different item charms straight out of Hyrule. A little silver owl gleams, calling to mind Kaepora Gaebora’s insistent hooting and explaining. Going from silver to gold, a small key unlocks memories of countless small triumphs being rewarded with an unlocking door. The majestic Ocarina of Time sits nearby, shining with the power of the royal family. A simple scarlet heart sits in the center of the locket. It’s perhaps the least flashy of the items featured, but who can really put a price on life itself? A nearby bomb is noticeable for its deep plum color, and the final charm is a small cerulean rupee. After all, you have to have the cash to get the bling, even in Hyrule.
Another incredibly smart and gorgeous element of this locket is the background that frames all the charms. Rather than just a plain colored background, TorresDesigns chose to have a faded tan color which imparts a feeling of age, tying perfectly into the adventurous feeling of the Zelda series. Three small clock gears are also added to the background, calling to mind the time traveling that’s found so often in the series. It also causes our own mental gears to turn as well, inviting us to relive all our own favorite memories in Hyrule.
Through beautiful charms and an inspired use of background elements, TorresDesigns creates a necklace the Hero of Hyrule would definitely be saving his money for. Thankfully, you don’t have to travel to another dimension to get such beautiful items as TorresDesigns sells many Zelda items through their Etsy shop. Rupees still required!
