2024 is already turning out to be one of promise and intrigue. With the possibility of a rumored Nintendo Switch successor on the horizon, many are hoping to see some amazing new games and the possibility of older Nintendo classics getting remakes. Last year, players were given two phenomenal remakes in the form of Metroid Prime Remastered and Super Mario RPG on the Switch. Both of these original titles were already legendary, and their remakes helped take them to the next level as well as give new players a chance to experience them for the first time. This, however, left some to speculate if we will see something from The Legend of Zelda get a remake, and which game would be the one to see this treatment. In 2019, the Gameboy classic Link’s Awakening was remastered and released on the Switch to much success, leaving fans pleading with Nintendo for more. While an official word from Nintendo on a Zelda remake or remaster has yet to be revealed, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown developers Ubisoft Montpellier have recently been asked what titles they would like to work on next, and it looks like they have a classic Zelda title in their sights.

Two of the developers from Ubisoft Montpellier hosted an “ask us anything” chat on the Reddit forum, r/metroidvania, where the public asked them numerous questions about the game and what Prince of Persia means to them. One question in particular has since caused the internet to go wild with speculation:
“If you could make a game for an IP that you don’t/haven’t had have access to, for example Mario or Final Fantasy, what IP would you pick and what kind of game would you make?”
Here was their response:
“Personally, I would LOVE to work with the Zelda IP. Maybe a strange spin-off based on Adventure of Link? (and of course, Castlevania)“

As great of a game as Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is, one can’t help but wonder what an Adventure of Link game would look like with Ubisoft at the reins. Many hardcore Zelda fans enjoy Zelda II for its own unique flavor and would love to see it get remastered in some form. While this game was definitely on the more challenging side, it is no less of a Zelda than any of the rest. Historically speaking, some fans have shied away from Zelda II: The Adventure of Link because it’s long been considered a black sheep title for its unusual experience points system and particularly high difficulty. But perhaps with a nice new polish and some quality-of-life additions, this game can finally receive the TLC it deserves. With a development team like Ubisoft Montpellier on such a job like this, that’s one dream we could easily see come true.
