Nintendo Switch Online sees enhancements, Majora’s Mask to be released in February

As promised by the Big N, more Nintendo 64 games are heading over to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription service. Nintendo recently announced that the hit classic The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask will soon join the roster this February. With the addition of Majora’s Mask, playable 64 titles now include the likes of Paper Mario, Star Fox 64, Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 64, Yoshi’s Story, and more.

Nintendo announces that Majora’s Mask is coming to the NSO Expansion Pack in February.

Meanwhile, it appears that enhancements are being made to Ocarina of Time’s controversial graphic displays, along with visual and audio lag issues. The enhancements were noticed by players about the same time Banjo-Kazooie was released into the Nintendo Switch Online collection. Most notably, the infamous Dark Link room in the Water Temple seems to have some of its textures and fog effects restored (we won’t talk about what happened back there.) While official word on the improvements is mum from the Big N, it would not be a surprise if they are working on emulation hiccups from behind the scenes as we speak. Perhaps Nintendo Switch Online won’t meet such a terrible fate, after all.

Bungles aside, it appears that Nintendo is making good on their promise for the latest Switch Online package. While nothing more is said yet, the odds are high that 64 titles will continue to be added to the subscription service later this year. It’s a great way for new players to get their feet wet on some of the best classics to have graced the history of video games.
