With the release of Tears of the Kingdom approaching (yay!) and the leaks that have happened (boo!), we want to share how we will be handling spoilers across all Zelda Universe channels.
We are committed to allowing all Zelda fans to continue being a part of our community while also allowing them to experience Tears of the Kingdom at their own pace. We aim to do as much as we can to prevent you from being inadvertently spoiled about the content of the game while casually browsing our platform.
At this time, we are planning to tag all spoilers for six months starting May 12, 2023. This period may be extended, and this will be communicated across our channels. We will also communicate when our spoiler-free period will end.
During the spoiler-free period:
- All articles, columns, and features about Tears of the Kingdom will be tagged as containing potential spoilers. Titles and header images for these will be free of spoilers.
- All images, GIFs, and videos (including fanart) about Tears of the Kingdom shared to our social media platforms will not contain spoilers.
- Pre-recorded media content (e.g., YouTube videos, podcasts, and social media videos) will have spoiler warnings in them and in the captions.
However, the following exceptions apply:
- Our Tears of the Kingdom guides and walkthroughs (whether text or video) are exempt from this policy. These will be published to a separate part of the website and will not be spoiler tagged.
- If our Tears of the Kingdom review does not contain story details, it will be exempt from this policy but will be explicitly labelled as spoiler-free.
- Live media content (e.g., Twitch streams, YouTube streams, and TikTok Lives) is exempt from this policy. These can and will show any part of the game at any time. Watch them at your own risk for spoilers.
- Any content officially published by Nintendo will be considered public knowledge (i.e., not a spoiler) and therefore exempt from this policy.
These points apply only to content posted on our official Zelda Universe channels. Zelda Universe does not control what is posted in replies, quote tweets, shares, or comments, but we will do our best to moderate. We also do not control what content our staff may share on their personal social media accounts.
