Japan to receive Tears of the Kingdom gummy candy in May

It’s officially April, and that means we are that much closer to the release of Tears of the Kingdom! Many fans are looking forward to finally getting their hands on the game, but for a joyous occasion like this, it would only be fitting to have a Zelda-themed snack to chomp on while gaming, right?

To promote the release of the upcoming and highly anticipated game, Bandai Candy is producing Tears of the Kingdom Sword Pick and Gummy candy. Each pack will include five gummies shaped like Chuchus, the gelatinous (and delicious-looking) enemies found in quite a few Zelda titles. Much like their multicolored appearances in the games, these gummy candies come in a variety of colors. However, they are all the same grape flavor. They also don’t explode like an in-game Chuchu either, but perhaps that’s a good thing!

Aside from the candies, each pack will contain a plastic sword pick to stab the Chuchus with, much to your heart’s content. There are five picks in total, each randomly selected and varying in design, taking on the form of several kinds of swords found in Breath of the Wild. Of course, there’s the iconic Master Sword, but the others appear to be shaped like the Royal Claymore, Feathered Edge, Silver Longsword, and the Scimitar of the Seven. However, there is a “secret” sixth sword that will contain a rare, Golden Claymore-shaped pick. Each pick measures 6.5 cm long (about 2.5 inches).

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Sword Pick and Gummy packs are slated to go on sale in May 2023 in Japan. Each pack will cost 173 Yen (about $1.30 USD) at retail and will be sold at confectionery sections of mass retailers nationwide. The game is set to release on May 12, 2023 on Nintendo Switch.
