The good folks at Zelda Dungeon are back with their fifth annual Musical March Madness event, a tournament in which Zelda fans will create their own musical bracket and compete against each other to predict the “greatest Zelda song ever!”
If you are unfamiliar with the event, here is the rundown: sixty-four songs will compete head-to-head in a series of single elimination matches, where the winner will continue to the next round until there is only one song remaining. You will be tasked with predicting each and every match up from the opening round to the final round. You’ll receive one point for a correct first round prediction, two points for a second round, three points for the third round, and so forth. It is important to note that Zelda Dungeon requests that you pick the song you think will win, not the one you personally want to win!
According to the schedule, the tournament will run from March 15 through March 31. The deadline to submit predictions is March 15, which are submitted via Challonge. Polls will last twenty-four hours, starting and ending at 5:00PM PST / 8:00PM EST, at which point the song with the most votes will advance to the next round.
At the end of the tournament, the contestant with the most points will receive an item of their choice from the official Zelda Dungeon Merch Store!
Songs that have won in previous years include, “Gerudo Valley,” “Dragon Roost Island,” “Midna’s Lament,” and more recently, the “Ballad of the Goddess.” Now with Tears of the Kingdom on the horizon, this year anything is possible. Which song will claim the title of “Best Zelda song” in 2023? That is up for you to decide.
Best of luck to all who enter, and have fun!
