This past April Nintendo confirmed that the annual “Nintendo Live” event would be hosted outside of Japan for the first time this year, and now we officially know it will coincide with PAX West, happening on September 1 through 4, 2023 in Seattle, Washington!
Originally hosted back in 2018, Nintendo Live is a multi-day event that celebrates all things Nintendo with activities ranging from games, Splatoon and Mario Kart competitions, live stage performances, and exclusive merch. The event is not focused on making new game announcements, but instead on being an in-person celebration of Nintendo for the whole family.
Nintendo Live 2023 will be a ticketed event, which you will need to register for and be selected to attend. Sign-ups for the lottery will begin on May 31 at 9 pm PST and run through June 22 at 9 pm PST. Nintendo also makes note that simply having a badge to attend PAX West will not grant you access to Nintendo Live, but they did advise PAX West attendees to keep an eye out on the website for offerings.
Another way to attend is to qualify in either one of the tournaments Nintendo will be hosting. Qualifiers for the Splatoon 3 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tournaments will happen over the next couple of months leading up to the event. The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Qualifiers will happen on May 27 between 2 and 6 PM PST, and the first round of Splatoon 3 qualifiers will be on June 3 and 4.
