Super Smash Bros. Ultimate becomes a DC Marvel with artist’s reimagining of comic book fighters

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s — Super Smash Bros?

Yes, that’s right, you’re not seeing things. That really is collage art of every single Smash Ultimate fighter you’re looking at, and all of them in the style of famous comic book characters from DC and Marvel. The daunting task was reimagined and designed by the artist xeternalflamebryx, whose work can be seen on Twitter and DeviantArt.

Parodies seem to be a common trend cropping up in the online fan art scene. Earlier this year, artist Daniel Cortes completed the similar task of giving every single Smash Ultimate fighter the nostalgic old-school cartoon Cuphead treatment, and the results were fantastic. Now, xeternalflamebryx lends his talents to not only restyling the Smash Ultimate crew for the comic scene, he actually recasts them as the famous DC and Marvel heroes we love (and the villains we love to despise). Several of the selections are especially entertaining for Zelda fans.

We strongly recommend that viewers see the artist’s whole gallery for the best experience, but we’ll share a few quick highlights.

Gee, this Green Arrow guy looks awfully familiar.
Ganondorf fittingly portrays the DC Comics supervillain Darkseid, who also happens to get bested by the Green Arrow.
It’s not Zelda, but who cares? The irony is simply hilarious.
Toon Link as Robin the Boy Wonder? Way too adorable.
Let’s not forget his partner Meta Kni — ahem, Batman.
