Princess Zelda’s Study is somewhere I’ve spent a lot of time. It’s one of the most poignant locations in Breath of the Wild, and there’s something so special about it that’s captured the imagination of many fans.
The brilliant artist Nuavic has digitally painted their interpretation of the tower study, giving it many wonderful details that bring the space to life.

Their vision of Zelda’s private study really resonates with me and fits the image that I’m sure many of us have of the princess. There are books strewn and stacked everywhere, their jackets bright and engaging. There are flasks and bottles of experiments, instruments, and apparatus. Even the chest full of what I presume to be maps or diagrams is there, in the same spot as in the game, though a hundred years in the future.
The plants bursting from their pots add to the cosy feeling of the room, while the color palette and the light gives the space a warmth. This is truly how I see the space before the Calamity, and it’s been captured perfectly.

Princess Zelda is drawn with a bright and curious gaze, excitedly showing Link a drawing, perhaps her own, of a Guardian. Link’s arms are full of books, and he’s in his more casual Champion’s Tunic. Zelda looks excitedly at Link, almost as if she’s explaining something to him, and while we can’t see his expression Link still looks fully engaged, listening to the princess with rapt attention.
The interplay between the two of them, up at the top of this tower and in the princess’ private space, is so beautifully depicted. It really captures their relationship in a way that is only hinted at in cutscenes. Truly, they look like partners in crime- or exploration.
Along with the final image, the artist has provided us with a lovely speedpainting video, with the caption, “I hope this video will help you!” Hopefully, this will inspire fans to give it a try themselves or incorporate some techniques used here.
