Video game cover band Glitch Kibbitz reimagines the ‘Rosa Sisters’ theme

Zelda fans have always found a way to reinterpret Nintendo’s worlds, characters, and music in a variety of unique and creative ways. Perhaps one of the most interesting examples of this are the arrangements from video game cover band Glitch Kibbitz, who specialize in “klezmerized” renditions of various video game songs, including a version of “Kass’s Theme” from Breath of the Wild. Their latest arrangement, “Misirlou Sisters,” captures the beautiful yet slightly creepy nature of the “Rosa Sisters” theme from Majora’s Mask perfectly.

The original version features more percussion-based instruments that are most likely implemented to accompany the sisters’ movements more fittingly as they dance and is undoubtedly an unsettling tune, probably due to the fact that it is a variation of “Majora’s Theme” which plays throughout the game. Glitch Kibbitz’s interpretation, however, is a bit slower and only utilizes two violins complementing one another, almost as if they were dancing along, adding a more emotional tone to the song.

You can listen to the song below and purchase it from the band’s Bandcamp page, and you can visit their website for more details on their work and even gain access to some of their previous arrangements.
