Take a look at the ‘world’s smallest Nintendo 64’

portable n64

Everyone loves custom projects based on video games. We have reported on console modifications in the past, and modder GManModz has made the smallest Nintendo 64 mod yet!

At a glance, it’s not far off the size of a Game & Watch or a Game Boy. It utilizes N64 game cartridges and has some impressive specs which are as follows:

  • 3.5” 320×240 LCD display
  • 1 18650 battery cell which lasts 1.5 hours
  • Headphone jack and speakers, with the plus and minus button on the front controlling the volume.
  • Uses a 12V DC barrel jack charger, with the ability to play and charge at the same time.
  • Expansion pak isn’t included, but GManModz says it would drastically decrease the battery life.

In the video, GManModz demonstrates various N64 games including The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. In the video’s description, GManModz states that clicking the right stick switches the left analog to a “D-Pad mode.” This is a really nifty modification, and it makes me want portable N64 games on the Switch as soon as possible!
