LEGO releasing $229 brick NES console in August

With the imminent launch of the new LEGO Super Mario sets on August 1, many have been wondering if the collaboration between the two storied companies would continue past the aforementioned sets. Today, after a tease yesterday from the LEGO company and a leak from the German website Promobricks, we got our confirmation.

The set, priced at a whopping $229, will feature a fully LEGO NES console and a TV. The screen features a classic NES Mario, which is moveable by way of a small crank on the side. Additionally, there is a space on top of the TV to slide in and interact with the oddly-shaped Super Mario minifig featured in the other playsets.

One can only hope that this, along with the fan-submitted Zelda’s castle from Breath of the Wild to LEGO Ideas, means there is much more in store from the two companies.
