Twilight Princess is still full of mysteries and unexplained details, even after having been released over 10 years ago. Of these mysteries, Zant cracking his own neck right before Ganondorf dies is one that has left many fans puzzled. MaskedNintendoBandit seeks to solve this scene in a new YouTube video.
His theory is that when Ganondorf shared his power with Zant in the Twilight Realm, he unintentionally gave Zant the key to Ganondorf’s own survival — the Triforce of Power. Ganondorf originally used the power to survive being executed by the Sages, which lead to his banishment to the Twilight Realm.
When Ganondorf is stabbed by Link with the Master Sword, Ganondorf tries this again. This time, however, he now shares his power with Zant and must request Zant’s portion of the power after having exhausted his own. Zant, being betrayed and abandoned by Ganondorf, denies his petition as he cracks his neck — allowing Ganondorf to die.
