At Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase back in March, the dark and mysterious platformer Blue Fire was introduced. Initially, only the trailer was revealed, but now new gameplay footage has been released.
This new footage makes it seem almost as if The Wind Waker and Majora’s Mask, two very different Zelda games, were mixed together to create something strange yet powerful. Co-lead Santiago Rosa himself stated in an interview with Nintendo Life that Blue Fire has Zelda, Dark Souls, and A Hat in Time feels to it.
Blue Fire takes place in Penumbra, a once beautiful world that has been plunged into eternal darkness by the Black Shadow. Umbra, the protagonist, was once a noble warrior before being corrupted by this darkness. Now soulless and empowered by the Black Shadow, players will journey with him to uncover the story through the world and its characters.
Blue Fire is scheduled for a Summer 2020 release on the Switch. See below for the original trailer.
