Link is capable of many amazing feats: slaying beasts, rescuing princesses, and saving the world. Of course, he can’t do any of those things without consuming a healthy, balanced breakfast before each adventure.
Animator, artist, and craftsman Baron Julius von Brunk‘s latest project sees Link endorsing Hyrule’s most delicious and nutritious breakfast cereal, KakarikO’s!
All of the characters, objects, and scenery in the video are made of LEGO and are constructed in an immaculate and exhaustively detailed fashion. The animation is also incredibly impressive and smoother than a glass of Lon Lon Milk (which we assume Link will be advertising next in his new marketing gig).
An extensive amount of work evidently went into making the video, and Julius shared some details of the process with us. “This is a mixed-media video that I’ve worked on throughout the summer,” he says. “It blends stop-motion LEGO puppet animation with live-action. Some of the LEGO puppets were animated with a homemade makeshift rig and shot with chroma key effects.
“This new method of LEGO puppet animation is a kind of art form that I’m pioneering, as it transcends beyond traditional LEGO brickfilm animations with minifigures.”
You can find some behind-the-scenes photos of the project on his Flickr page, and the cereal box design on his website.
