Breath of the Wild has been out for over two years now and you may think we’ve seen all of Hyrule, but a recent discovery seems to prove otherwise.
By navigating Link to particular points in water and using the Sheikah Slate’s camera, the device effectively serves as goggles and allows you to clearly see underwater.
You can watch the trick being demonstrated below by @eu_rasi_a_3678 on Twitter.
While we’ve always been able to vaguely see underwater in Breath of the Wild, it’s interesting so much vibrancy and color was included despite the fact players wouldn’t typically be able to view the flora so closely.
A recent interview with Eiji Aonuma revealed the Breath of the Wild sequel came to be because of all the ideas the team wanted to implement, meaning it’s possible underwater exploration was discussed or at least suggested at some point in the game’s development. If true, this could explain the level of detail present under the water’s surface.
Either way, it’s cool new things are still being discovered. Hopefully we’ll be able to see more stuff like this in the sequel!
