E3 is typically the best time of the year to promote upcoming games, but it appears Nintendo also felt some of their developers deserved praise. As of E3 2019, four of Nintendo’s notable developers received promotions.
According to a discovery on Resetera, Eiji Aonuma, producer for the Zelda series and a developer many of us are familiar with, is now a Deputy General Manager. Hisashi Nogami, who worked on the Splatoon and Animal Crossing franchises, was similarly promoted to Deputy General Manager.
Another producer for the Animal Crossing games, Aya Kyogoku, is now Manager of Nintendo Entertainment Planning and Development (EPD) Production Group No. 5. In addition, Yoshiko Ikebata is now a member of EPD Production Group No. 6. The former group works on Splatoon and Animal Crossing, while the latter group manages the Luigi’s Mansion and Metroid Prime games.
These developers all have fantastic track records and it’s good to see them getting the recognition they deserve. Hopefully this trend of promotions continues for Nintendo’s employees!
