The Great Fairies of Breath of the Wild are truly something to behold. These larger-than-life characters are just brimming with charisma and mystique and it’s always exciting to visit them on your journey to save Hyrule. In this game, the fairies have been given a fabulous makeover which can brilliantly be seen in rongs1234’s artwork, “Great Fairy”.

Yuga’s Art Gallery is a series in which we highlight our favorite artwork from The Legend of Zelda community, as well as some official artwork from the franchise from time to time. Zelda is a series that is constantly changing its style, and after over 30 years of evolving and shifting its visuals, it continues to inspire endless ways for artists to interpret their favorite characters and moments.

Rongs1234 has excellently displayed their artistic talent by drawing the lovely Cotera, the Great Fairy found near Kakariko village. I’ve been very pleased with all of the designs for the Great Fairy over the past few Zelda titles, but she and her sisters (as well as the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess incarnations) have to be some of my favorites, so of course I was overjoyed to see such lovely fan art of her.

The artist draws the fairy with such clarity; the line art is so smooth and crisp, you can see all the details in her fabulous garbs. If I didn’t know any better, I would say this was a screenshot from some sort of animation with the movement of the character so well presented. The array of colorful light fragments surrounding her gives off a very fantastical feel as well as one that elaborates her flamboyancy. Overall I think this is just a stunning piece of artwork!

It always bothered me that no official artwork was ever released of the four fairy sisters from Breath of the Wild. Thankfully, I’m not the only one who appreciates their designs and others have drawn them in their own unique styles. Through art like rongs1234’s, we can enjoy and appreciate the fabulous great fairy together as fans.
