Medli’s Melodies: An unbelievable vocal cover of Cadence of Hyrule’s ‘Great Fairy Fountain’ theme

Last time we checked in with vocalist Nicolas Daoust, he delivered an impressive vocal cover of Cadence of Hyrule’s opening level theme, in the style of the game’s shopkeeper.

This time, Nicolas has gone from dealer to healer, as he takes on the role of the Great Fairy.

For those who don’t know, the original “vocal” tracks in Cadence of Hyrule are actually computer-generated and aren’t recordings of real people singing. For example, while the “Great Fairy Fountain” theme consists of a vocal sample by Adriana Figueroa, the track is actually a result of composer Danny Baranowsky’s editing and manipulating of the voice. That’s where Nicolas steps in, challenging himself to replicate these songs with his real voice.

His latest effort sees him take his pitch higher than ever in order to sing like the Great Fairy. As with all of his videos, his facial expressions are hilarious as he concentrates intently on getting the pitch just right. Those subtle glances at the camera are the icing on the cake.
