If you have followed our homepage for at least a couple of years, you may have, at some point, read Zelda- or Nintendo-related news from our former reporter, Douglas Forrester. Since we bid him farewell, Doug’s been a busy boy, creating and releasing music with his band, Someone In A Tree.
So, you could say there’s a bit of bias in the Melodies selection this week. But listen for yourself, if you don’t believe me when I say this is an excellent cover.
Someone In A Tree is a four-man, New York-based band that “sounds like Weezer and Radiohead trying to eat each other.” In celebration of the recent 20th anniversary of Ocarina of Time, the guys decided to pay tribute with a cover of the iconic “Saria’s Song”.
The way the tempo builds, slows, and then builds back up again is really satisfying. It reminds me very much of the journey through the Lost Woods (in which this song originates), where the anticipation builds as you get further and further only for you to take a wrong turn just when you think you’re getting close to the goal.
If you dig the track, you can purchase it from Someone In A Tree’s Bandcamp page, where you can name your price. You can also follow the band’s upcoming projects on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
