While the words “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” are now burned into my retinas after consuming the onslaught of news coming the Nintendo E3 Direct, the upcoming installment in Nintendo’s popular fighting series goes by a different name in Japan.

Japanese Nintendo fans will instead be looking forward to “Super Smash Bros. Special” this December. Five different logos have been revealed for the game, with the “Special” subtitle also appearing in the Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese logos. You can check them all out over on NintendoSoup.

I think I prefer “Ultimate”, myself! It seems fitting, given that the game appears to be a celebration of the entire Super Smash Bros. series. It will include every single playable character that has ever appeared in the franchise, and it’s looking like many (if not all) of the previous stages from past games will return too.
