Sheik’s Theme has always been a haunting tune that lingers in the back of my mind. I always wished for it to appear in titles after Ocarina of Time, but being as Sheik was only seen in that particular game, it makes sense why the beautiful melody did not return. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t use our imaginations. ClefferNotes is a musician who has taken several scores and orchestrated them in a fashion that resembles the serene sounds of Breath of the Wild, including Sheik’s Theme.

Celebration of the Wild is a month-long celebration of the anniversary for this beloved game. All month long we will be picking our favorite songs, fan works, places, memories, and more of this wonderful addition to the Zelda series. Breath of the Wild has revolutionized the franchise for the better and it’s only suiting that we take this month to celebrate its achievements.

By using only piano, strings, and an operatic voice, ClefferNotes recreates a classic tune in the styles of the latest Zelda game. That is, until the ending when the harp is introduced, reminiscing the original piece. With the composition’s relaxing and peaceful tone, it certainly feels like it could belong in Breath of the Wild.

Overall the piece is light and airy, bringing heavenly imagery to mind. I could easily envision this piece being played at the Temple of Time or a dragon’s shrine, and oh what I would have done to see Sheik herself there reimagined in a new role for this game. Though I know that clearly would not be possible (unless they separated Sheik and Zelda as two different beings in this rendition of the tale), this melody paints such a vivid tale of what could have been.

There are so many tranquil tunes that I wish I could have heard in Breath of the Wild, and thanks to dedicated fans like ClefferNotes it could become a reality. I am eagerly looking forward to any more pieces that are given a wild reimagining!
