One of the greatest things in Breath of the Wild is climbing. Why? You can climb any surface in the overworld — even if it’s seemingly impossible in real life. For me, this made travel so much easier, as instead of having to find routes around the mountains to get to your destination, you can power through and just climb over it! That is, given you have enough stamina.
Of course, climbing can be rather tedious with its slow pace, but Nintendo has offered a solution in the form of the climbing gear! As far as I’ve seen, the climbing gear appears to be a favorite costume among fans. Personally, I didn’t care for it when it first came out, but I grew fonder of it as I basically never took it off with my in-game climbing habits. Fan art like this also made me like the outfit even more!
Onisuu sketched a piece featuring Link wearing the climbing gear in a really cool style! In the game, I always thought the climbing gear made Link look like some punk kid trying to be cool, which is why I was a little turned off by the design. However, Onisuu has managed to create this outfit in a style that makes Link look more like a charming rogue when he wears this gear. There are a few details that the artist has added that make all the difference, such as the extra earrings, the warm color scheme, and, of course, that sly smirk on Link’s face.
While I still prefer the more traditional outfits like the soldiers armor and the tunic of the wild, artwork like this makes me see this outfit that was once so unappealing to me in a new light. I’m honestly excited to see what Onisuu and other great artists do with this design next!
