Perhaps one of the most iconic songs from Ocarina of Time is Zelda’s Lullaby. It’s a beautiful and melancholy song which might as well be Princess Zelda’s theme song. Not only was this song used to help Zelda sleep at night, but it was also used to prove Link’s connection to the Royal Family. It also causes a giant grave to explode. And can cause water levels to raise and drop. It could even part waterfalls! It was quite a useful song in Link’s adventure, to say the least.
The Japanese alternative pop band Meine Meinung, also known as their YouTube channel name moonbowmusicmovie, not only do their own music but also covers of various games. As you may have guessed, they have covered Zelda’s Lullaby. The cover itself is wonderful, featuring the talents of Milt, a guest ocarina player. Meine Meinung’s instrumentation prowess comes to life with the strings and the expertly played ocarina. In all of their covers, you can feel all the emotion and love put behind each song and this one is no different. The inclusion of an ocarina is a wonderful touch to the song, and it shows the level of dedication and love this band has for the music they create.
I’ve always been a fan of alternative styles of music and Meine Meniung makes some of my favorite covers or remixes. In addition to that, it’s great to see how much fun the band has, as at the end of the song they joke around and have fun. This is a true testament that the songs they make are made out of love and enjoyment, and that to me is a sign of something truly great.
