During this year’s Game Developers Conference, fans were shown screenshots of the prototypes used to help create the open-world vision for Breath of the Wild. After this viewing, a fan by the name Winter Drake started creating Breath of the NES to show what it would be like to play the prototype version.
The game does a wonderful job of blending old with the new in both display and function. Although it is visually in a NES format, it includes the functions that sets Breath of the Wild apart from most Legend of Zelda games. This includes limited weapon durability, weapon drops, and strictly material drops (as opposed to rupees or hearts).
As with most fan games that include Nintendo characters, this game runs a high risk of being taken down. That being said, be sure to check it out before it’s gone!
