The sequel to Breath of the Wild delayed to Spring 2023

We’ll have to wait just a little bit longer to play the sequel to Breath of the Wild. The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma announced this morning in a video posted to Nintendo of America’s Twitter that the game’s release window has been shifted to Spring of 2023. The video, which included a brief look at brand new footage of Link, can be seen below in Nintendo’s tweet.

We’ve already known since last summer’s trailer that Link’s arm was going to be out of the ordinary in this upcoming adventure, but now we’re seeing that the Master Sword is in pretty rough shape itself. There is sure to be plenty of debate and theorizing about what happened to the legendary weapon, and how Link is supposed to restore its original form.

The delay frees up a bit of space for the Switch’s release schedule in 2022, which has quickly become jam packed in the back half of the year between titles like Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Bayonetta 3, and Pokemon Scarlet/Violet. Although Nintendo did not give any indication when a next update on the sequel to Breath of the Wild will come, hopefully they have something in store for us later this year.
