Nintendo NY, the go-to store for all your Nintendo merchandise on the East Coast, is closing its second floor until 1 pm on May 5, 2016 for a “private event.” Few details beyond a single tweet were given about the event

However, this hasn’t stopped news-hungry Nintendo fans from making some connections. As Mason on Twitter pointed out, a previous private event was held a day before a Nintendo Direct was announced.

As Mason suggests, this could be a coincidence. Or it could be a “sign of something to come,” whether that be in the form of a Nintendo Direct or a promotional E3 video.
