According to NDP figures, Majora’s Mask 3D was the highest selling title in the month of February in the United States, selling approximately 515,000 copies (physical and digital combined). It beat out some tough competition, such as Evolve (PC, Xbox One, PS4), Dying Light (PC, Xbox One, PS4), and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, PC). What’s even more impressive is that Majora’s Mask 3D was on a single platform and still beat these games out, whereas the other games were all on multiple systems.

It was also only one of two games from Nintendo that placed in the top 10, with the other being Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for the 3DS, which placed 10th.

With Majora’s Mask 3D selling incredibly well in both the United States and the United Kingdom, should Nintendo look into creating a third game for the 3DS that delves into the Hero of Time’s exploits?

A sequel to OoT or MM that follows the game’s respective style would be quite amazing, but it’s difficult to follow up the greatest game of all time and one of the most uniquely bizarre and touching games of all time. Rather, I’d love a third type of game. Perhaps an immediate precursor to OoT that plays with the conventions of the series while maintaining the spirit of OoT. Just like ALBW honored the memory of ALttP and then took it into the future.

MM 3D deserves huge success and I hope it inspires a revisiting of those childhood classics.
